Hi I have a WD TV HD Media Player (2nd Gen.) and have been using a western Digital 1TB hard drive to watch movies on my TV. I have now bought a Western Digital 2.5 TB hard drive as I needed more room. I transfered all the files over to this new hard drive but now it will not play anything. I replugged the 1RB into the media player and it works fine
Please help |

due to kernel limitations, no drive larger than 2TB is supported, you will likely end up corrupting all data on it requiring a format of the drive.
the only devices to support greater than 2TB drives are the Live and newer media players, all the older ones would require a firmware and kernel upgrade, WD seems to have abandoned them and therefore we will likely never see the fix. 2TB or less is all you can safely use directly attached, networked drives can be as big as you like without any issues. |

I have the gen 2 wdhd and have the same problem with my 2.5tb WD elements drive
I used Easeus partition manager created two partitions without destroying the data on it. One of them is a 1.80gb partition and I left the rest unallocated for now. I plugged it in the wdhd and poof it showed up with my videos. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Hi,
I have WDTV Gen2 (official latest fw) and I have a external USB-HDD case housing which has 2 times 2TB HDD IN it. (So..1 housing with 2x2TB inside it. (2 drives)). But WDTV only 'sees' 1 of the HDD inside the housing. The HDD's have there one drive-letter (so no RAID construction or any other 'jokes'.) 1 time it 'sees' the one drive inside the housing and when I turn WDTV of it sometimes shows the other harddrive. My question is: will an update to WDXL 'eliminate' this problem? Or maybe Padavan Firmware? Thank you in advance! p.s. I don't know where to put this question ---> Will there appear an youtube 'button' in the (OSD) menu of WDXL or Padavan Firmware? Because I don't really understand this. And is there a webbrowser? (Webbrowser I don't think there is...remember to read something in readme file) But youtube I don't know... |

No, custom FW won't add support for drive configurations that official FW doesn't support (custom FW is simply a modified version of the official one).
Yes, YouTube should appear as a menu item after you update the FW. A full-featured browser is not possible on these devices. |
