    My WDTV Live Plus seems to be working fine. I recently decided to go wireless and ran into a pretty strange problem. I went and got a Belkin N150 wireless adapter. The adapter works fine for about 2-3 minutes. I can see my shares and connect. After the 2-3 minutes the adapter starts to get very warm and loses connection.

    Im puzzled. It works but then overheats and doesn't work. Works fine in my laptop...

    get a short USB extension cable and try it, I know of a few people with the same issue and that fixed most of them.

    I suppose that it is worth a shot to try. I dont really see how that would have an effect from an electrical point of view. It is the same connection just moved. Is this a design flaw? I measured the USB port voltage and that is not the problem. I cant figure out what is causing the excessive heating of the USB wireless. The only reason would be an excess draw of current from the device or port.

    If I can take a guess, I'd say that streaming videos over the network made the radio work harder. It's something called duty cycle. Mostly due to the cramp space, some WiFi dongles are not designed well to dissipate the generated heat.
