I've noticed that the my external hd will stay on (Well the light at least) when I push the power button the the wdtv remote. When I unplug the usb from the WDTV the light turns off but that is the only way to resolve this. This issue didn't happen for me on the Live-Plus

Well I realized pressing it quickly brings the External Hard Drive into Stand By Mode with the LED Light On But instead of a quick press I held the power button in a little longer this time and It shut off the hard drive! Hope this helps someone |

If you have Media Library turned on, you may want to just put it in standby. In which case, you have two advantages:
1. The Media Library metadata/XML are updated while on standby so they're ready when you use the device 2. The device turns on instantly and the "Compiling media" will only take a few seconds For #1 to work, the HDD must be powered up while in standby. |
