Hi,
i'm new to this foum as I have just purchased a WD Tv Live Hub. My plan was to use it as a mediaplayer in my bedroom upstairs and then stream mediafiles to my Samsung Smart tv downstairs. It works, but I don't see any subtitles (.srt) and I can't play .mkv. It seems to be an issue with the version of the Twonky-server on the Live Hub. I've read a lot of different tutorials on how to update Twonky on the Mybook Live and other NAS drives from WD. My question is if this is also possible on the Live Hub or if I should swith my Live Hub for a MyBook and a WD Live Plus? Thanks in advance Tejs |

The official way to update the TwonkyMedia server is to wait for a firmware update from WD. Since that may take ages, some people have figured out how to do it on the MyBook Live, but I haven't seen any similar instructions for the Live Hub yet. Note that any such mods made by you may cause problems and will almost certainly void your warranty. That said, if I find any instructions on how to accomplish this on the Hub (don't hold your breath though), I'll be sure to post them here.

Thank you for your reply.
I think I'll return my hub then, although I'm sad to see it go. The sole purpose of my purchase was to stream video to my Samsung tv - including .mkv and .srt. I'll try a WD Mybook Live instead and risk the warranty. |

Any way you can connect the player to your TV, then access videos via Network Shares instead?

Any way you can connect the player to your TV, then access videos via Network Shares instead? I'm not really sure that I understand you. I need a separate player in my bedroom as my tv here is dumb as a doorknob. My tv downstairs can however play videos via dlna and therefore I hoped that I would not need a separate box here if I had the Live Hub in my bedroom - one remote is better than two. |

Hmm, ignore my suggestion above then, since it won't work for your situation.
