Fairly new to the idea of dumping cable for streaming media so have a few questions and WD has several boxes for this so am a bit confused.
I am wired and have Wi-Fi. Did have a Roku box set up for this via Wi-Fi, but this endeavor was my son's thing and he took the Roku when he moved out. I have only one TV in the house so multiple rooms capability is not a priority at this time. Here’s what I want to do: Online subscription TV- Netflix, etc. Move all my old VHS movies to a hard drive to view on my HD TV. Stream other online content to my HD TV. Will the Hub cover all my bases because it's the Live Plus with a hard drive or is something else required? I have other questions for later. Thanks! |

A wired connection will always be better than WiFi, but the latter can be used as well. The Hub doesn't have in-built WiFi though (only the latest Live SMP does), so you'll need to buy one of these supported adapters preferably: http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail...d/5688#wireless. The Hub is the only model with an internal HDD, so on one hand you get both player and drive in a convenient package, while on the other you cannot really upgrade to a bigger drive as per your needs. I would personally suggest that of these models you buy the Live SMP (the latest one to be released) and a 2 TB HDD to go along with it. No external WiFi adapter required for the Live SMP of course.

Okay! WD TV Live Streaming Media Player plus an external HD of my choice, no wireless adapter needed. Sweet!
Thank you very much! |
