Hi,
I configured Windows Media Player under Windows 7 to stream content to my WD TV Live SMP. The problem is that the subtitles are not displayed. I can see them if I access my PC through network share (which is not optimal), and I can even see the on the PC if I use WMP. But not streaming with that software. Can anybody help me with this? Or maybe point me to another software to stream from my PC to my SMP? Thanks! |

Why aren't network shares optimal?
Also, guess you can try PlayOn instead of WMP. |

Playing a large mvk located in a network share through the wireless network does not work properly for me (the video jitters).
There are many posts that suggest using a media server instead of basic network shares for performance reasons when using a wireless network. This fixed my problems with WMP streaming, except for the subtitles issue. I'll give PlayOn a try. How about freeware servers, like TVersity? |

Sure, you can try TVersity as well I guess. Unfortunate that there's no homebrew firmware for this model, as it allows you to use the much more efficient NFS instead of Windows' CIFS for streaming. Once you have that set up properly, the player hardly breaks a sweat playing 30-40 GB MKVs streamed over the network, and you can make do without a media server's real-time re-encoding of the video.
