    Hi.

    Trying to seek out better functionality and usability for my 2TB Elements Play Media Player and wondering if the firmware on the WDTV would work if I put it on my drive? ... Has anyone checked firmware crossover capability between WD devices?

    I doubt anyone would be brave enough to risk bricking their player, especially if it voids their warranty and prevents an RMA.
