Looks pretty nice with the matte finish, which will mean less finger prints. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Hi guys. Sure looks cool although I prefer the glossiness of the 1st gen one. It would be so cool if this also sports a bluetooth and WiFi chip to boot (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

Oh really the gloss? You dont find it to be a finger print magnet? I move mine between home and the lake every weekend so Im always handling mine, I welcome the matte finnish. Bluetooth and WiFi would always be welcome but dont cross your fingers, seems all we will get is a hard wired ethernet port which is still pretty cool. With the ethernet port they might include or offer a WiFi antenna, who knows... time will tell.

Yeah I think the gloss is really nice. Actually I don't really touch the device a lot (maybe cos I haven't modded it yet?!) since I have it standing vertically. I only touch the My passport and yank it out from the top, in order to manage the content, so I don't really need to touch. Anyways great forum guys I'm learning awesome new ways to get even more from the WDTV which I am now using as my Number 1 Multimedia Device at home (previously I used my Xbox 360 and PS3). Cheers

it's good they added the network connection, but i hope the dts support can be added in the first gen firmware

it's not a codec, it's a hardware decoder, if they could put it in firmware, the wdtv would already have it.

That's my thought also. Playing almost all available videos from today(all videos I have at least). NMT's like Popcorn Hour uses the exact same video chip so they can also play exactly the same files.

I don't know about you, but I'm using the most recently released official (i.e., not alpha or beta) firmware, and mine plays .ISO files already. I've noticed some glitches playing them which I plan to research here later tonight, but the basic .ISO file playing capability is already supported.

Hi everyone, new guy here just got my first WD HD Player. Been happy and just lurking to what all others have posted. I have to say that I will be in line for the 2nd generation one and just box my 1st gen. up until I get another TV for the bedroom. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I have googled a lot over this but pretty much come up empty besides one news review on this. Wow I would think that WD would put out the hype on the next gen?

Hi Charlie,

Just might be so in the prototype stages they still want to keep it under wraps. It could totally change from now till the time its released into the wild, we dont know their plans. You would think they would start to hype it by now, time will tell.

I will definitely upgrade for the Ethernet & DTS Support. Hope they beef up the processor so Artwork loads quicker.
