Hi, new here and I just got a new WD TV HD Media Player and was all excited, put my music on "My Book", and then put some Anime avi files on and played them on my TV with the player. The screen size is TOO large.
At first I was missing large sections, so I changed the settings to display normal, switched from Widescreen, and checked all the other settings to be comparable.

The videos are still too large it seems, and when I zoom out, it takes them to 1/2 size, which is WAY too small. I have tried converting the videos with the supplied media converter and it converts them into HD videos(1gb or more) and then has a problem where the audio isn't synced with the video.

I have tried WMV, MPEG, AVI, MOV, and many other settings to format my videos with but and currently flabbergasted on what to do now.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Thankyou,

    Malichite.

Obviously I assume you have a decrypter so I will suggest to look at several things. These are the names of the programs and no links out of respect of the forum here.

    DVD neXt COPY Ultimate

    1-Click DVD Converter

    DVDFab

    HandBrake

    Nero

Those are just a few some free some are trial ware. All the above mentioned will do mobile formats or more.

I have not played with the free converter cause I own too many others already.

    ...........................................

What would I need a decrypter for, I downloaded the videos online in AVI format, which alone does play on the Media Player, but the main problem is that the screen size if off. The subtitles on the videos are being blocked by the bottom of the screen and when I shift the screen up, it takes off too much of the top, thus losing much of the picture.

I will try those programs you suggested, and will post back tonight after checking them out.

Thankyou for the response, but again, why would I need a decrypter for the video files if they are already in a supported format.

Hi and welcome to the forums. Sounds like badly encoded avi's. You might want to try another avi that you have encoded to the right specs and see how that turns out. Not all stuff you grab from the net is going to be a good encode. I play a crap load if xvids divx rips that all have no problems, report back.

    Cheers!

Thank you, glad to be a part of the forums.

What would be the right specs is what I guess I'm trying to figure out? I have a 25" tube TV, and I'm not sure what specs to format the avi videos in to make them fit perfectly.

I have formatted them in numerous formats from .mov to .avi, .wmv and more, used Divx, xvid, H436?(can't remember the numbers offhand, used the same as recommended on box), and many others.

I'm just not sure what to do now. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated,
    Thank you.

Sorry I could of swore you said the media converter that comes with the wd player. Since this is the case you need to learn what auther(s) are trusting on quality rips. I have ran into this same scenario as well many times.

    Hi,

    First time poster here.

Anyways, mine was doing the same thing, until I switched the output from composite to HDMI. Now it just cuts off a very very small portion of the bottom and top of the video. The composite was cutting off large portions of the left and right side and a little more of the bottom and top.

Thanks, but currently I'm not working on an HD TV, thus the HDMI port is no good for me. I should be upgrading within the year, but it feels like I'm stuck till then, ugh.
If anyone has any ideas, it would really help.
