Hi all,
The remote control responds very slow when I'm watching videos. I expect more than 1 minute before being able to press stop, go to the next video, etc.. Is this normal, or someone already solved the problem? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Thank's |

Just in case take the power cord out and wait a little bit. Put it back and see if it helps a little.
Cheers. |

The response of the main unit to commands from the remote is slow, in my case it takes maybe around 1-2 seconds for the main unit to react.
That's already annoying, but 1 minute response time is far too long. Something's broken in your unit, it appears. Do you need to push the remote buttons repeatedly ? Then maybe the remote has contact issued for its buttons. |

i have seen this myself before. I would note that maybe the buffer in the hard drive is being cleared as you are starting the movie, then once the buffer is filled with the movie controls are available again. Try this, start that same movie, wait until the display on the bottom shows up(Movie timeline). After it shows up you are able to control the movie right! I get that from time to time. It even happens for example when you walk away with a movie passed for a few minutes and then come back to it and hit play, you will hear the hard drive spinning up again like as if it went to a a power save mode. Listen to what your hard drive is doing, if it is reading the drive like crazy it just means it is accessing the data you requested and trying to put it to the buffer for your machine to access.

Same problem here. I watch a movie and if I try to press stop or pause it doesn't respond for about 4 minutes.
Does anyone have a cure to this or is my WDTV faulty? I am using a Maxtor 500gb drive. |

Hi Julio,
Also posted this in another thread - Hope it Helps. I just had the same issue with a WDTV gen 1 that I am setting up for someone. Remote worked fine when using the navigation screen and menu. Once I started playing any of my movie folders, the remote would not respond. After reading the other thread, I restored the unit to factory settings. Upon restarting, it told me that it needed 3.5 GB space for the media something or other. lol... soz, cant remember exactly what it said. I only had 1.5GB avail on my HDD so I deleted some of the crappier movies leaving 10GB free. Worked a charm!! Went to test and the remote works with no issues now. Obviously it needs some space to have a think about things before it does it. I guess try to remember that it always needs some free space avail. I know that this 5 months down the track, however I hope this helps. cheers, ducer |

I had the same problem.
I solved it by deleting the .wd_tv folder from the external drive. |

I see to be having the same lag with my remote, however mine is slow from the moment I power on the unit, not only when playing videos. I doubt this is a HDD space issue. I am connected to a 3TB WD My Book with approx. 300GB free.
Yesterday I tried disconnecting/reconnecting the HDD then I reset the WDTV to factory defaults. I setup my wifi access manually and did not set any customizations (wallpapers, themes etc). So far this seems to be working… |

well, I have to question which device you have and what firmware revision you are running.
the original WDTV doesn't support over 2TB drives, in fact Gen1, Gen2 and mini will never support them. the WDTV Live and the WDTV Live Plus do with the proper firmware - but the live plus doesn't with WDLXTV custom firmware. the live hub and live streaming 'should' but I wont be wasting my money on either of them to find out. |
