       Mini resolution - a hardward or firmware limitation?, Is the mini's restricted resolution a hardware issue or a firmware

    Does anybody know if the mini's resolution limitation is a hardware issue or if its just the firmware?

    If its a hardware issue its doubtful anything can be done, but if its a firmware issue hopefully someone in the know (or WD) will update it to allow for higher resolutions and more codec support.

    The Mini's lack of full HD support is what distinguishes it from the WD TV and the Live and allows it to be sold at a lower price point. I'd be highly surprised if its decoding chip did support full HD, 'cos that just wouldn't make sense in terms of cost vs. profit for WD.
